49er Festival Update: September 3, 2021

The Yosemite Chamber of Commerce board of directors announced the cancellation of the 2021 49er Festival due to public concerns over health risks associated with large gatherings. The Chamber wishes to thank members of our local business community for the hundreds of hours they spent planning the 2021 Festival and looks forward to bringing our community the best festival ever on September 17, 2022.

POSTED AUGUST 18, 2021: The Yosemite | Hwy 120 Chamber of Commerce is beginning to receive questions about the status of the 49er Festival in light of recent COVID developments.

In the absence of definitive direction from County officials, the Yosemite | Hwy 120 Chamber of Commerce board is moving ahead with plans for the 2021 49er Festival (September 18) with a major emphasis on health, safety, and individual responsibility for making choices about personal risk associated with attending a large outdoor gathering.

“We believe that our vendors, volunteers, and guests will make the correct personal choices about the 49er Festival,” said Bob Turney, President. “We are planning additional health and safety precautions, such as freely available N95 masks, hand sanitizer at every booth, and ensuring that food service vendors and chili cook-off teams are adhering to County Public Health mandates for food service. Our communications closer to the event will emphasize the wearing of masks for unvaccinated and at-risk attendees and proper social distancing at the Parade and the event.”

  • The Chamber’s board of directors is in daily contact to review the situation, and has been actively seeking additional direction from the County.
  • Plans are already moving forward for additional signage and communications regarding masks, social distancing, and personal responsibility.
  • The Yosemite | Hwy 120 Chamber of Commerce will execute any and all mandates imposed by Tuolumne County and/or the State of California.
